Titles, a Guaranteed Headache

We've all been through that process, finding a title for our work. We still don't know who hasn't written countless of them, hoping that it will be the one that indicates it belongs to the work we have or are writing, which appears in the archives as: "untitled". In fact, now that we think about it... that could be a good title... hahaha.
There is no magic formula that helps us create the title that gives its name to a literary work, song, play, etc. Titles are the result of hard work that is as exhaustive as it is exhausting.
Before writing this article we were looking everywhere to see if there was or perhaps existed something like an app (everything is an app these days); but, no, we didn't find anything similar, although we did find a website to generate names that also helps create names for businesses and yes, we confess that we tried to use it to get an attractive title and, no, we didn't succeed. It ended up being something meaningless that brought us back to the old system. We know we've made reference to it in the past, but it really works and it goes without saying that we are faithful devotees of paper and pencil; we assure you that there is nothing like this, if it wasn't useful Nick Jonas wouldn't use it constantly during The Voice auditions. This means that yes, it does work! We could use a digital notepad, or Quick Note, but it's obvious that nothing will replace the paper notebook and the pencil between our fingers, which also helps us when we use the pencil as drumsticks while our brain throws out ideas until something clicks, and we write it down to make way for the next name.

It is not a simple process, you have to take your time, throw ideas one after another and write down each one until finally, after reading and reviewing the list one hundred and seventy-five times, your eyes open and there it is! Among that sea of words in no particular order, there it is waiting to be discovered, the title that will finally give the name to our work.
We can give you a list of titles that are already well known, give you examples of how they were composed, of the combinations or even of titles that do not seem to have anything to do with the story. We recommend that you make your lists, do not despair, as we said before it is a process that takes time, but we can suggest some ideas to make it more enjoyable. For example, listen to music, in English or Spanish or whatever language you speak. Music is very stimulating. Another way is to continue writing the story and, suddenly, some of the characters will tell you the title (something that usually happens very often).
Don't torture yourself, keep working and you'll see how the title will come to you or perhaps the muses will visit you for both the title and the plot, but don't worry, we'll talk about that in another post.
